Passion for education and people - is what we're looking for. Become a Team lead at Codecool, inspire the mentor team, lead by example!

Codecool is a growing network of coding schools in the CEE region. Our mission is to reinvent IT education and solve the ever growing IT talent gap of companies by giving coding carriers for a wide range of people.  Codecool is already present in 4 locations, 2 countries (Hungary, Poland), with a 3,2M EUR revenue in 2018, 5M EUR target revenue in 2019.

Codecool’s programming campus soon to be opened in Bucharest is searching for mentors, aka experienced software developers, who have all the skills to train beginners. The mentor team needs a Team lead, who leads by example and takes care of team dynamics.

You will be working from Bucharest, but your tasks will exceed the city’s and the country’s borders, you will have training, meetings and company-wide conferences in Hungary and Poland as well. You will work closely with the local country manager, other mentors from all our locations, and other team members, subcontractors.

Apply if you:

  • have a positive attitude, and you can inspire others,
  • have managed teams before, know how to take care of your team members,
  • are a credible person with huge programming experience,
  • believe in the practice oriented, project based learning model and you understand the difference between teaching and mentoring,
  • are experienced in technology and work with it on a daily basis, love to learn and educate yourself continuously,
  • speak English and Romanian fluently.

Why work for us?

  • We offer an awesome atmosphere. Our offices are somewhere between a tech start-up and a university hallway, full of budding coding superstars.
  • You can be a part of CEE regions next startup success (5M EUR yearly revenue expectation for our 4th year of operation, ~7M EUR total funding from the region’s leading financial and energy provider and angels)
  • Cool office. Greatly selected colleges with the same values and attitude of work.
  • We teach hard, play hard. At Codecool, you can take as much vacation time as you need.
  • We are a flat organization, if you have an idea and the motivation to make it happen, there is no bureaucracy that stops you, it will happen.
  • Full-time contract with motivating compensation package

Codecool’s Vision:

We want to revolutionise the way people and organisations learn, grow and connect in our tech-driven world through lifelong learning, career planning, and employee management.

About our culture:

We at Codecool are working to reach our Vision based on our Core Values:

  • Honesty: Be honest with yourself, with your peers whether it is a good situation or a bad one.
  • Quality: We expect quality and craftsmanship in everything we do.
  • Fun: have fun, because if you enjoy something, you’ll become better at it. It’s that simple.

Am I a good IT Mentor candidate?

I wish to keep my full-time job and do mentoring few times a week. How does it work?
In the Codecool model, you will be required to work full time as a mentor. Mentors know their students very well. In order to achieve that they stay with their class five days a week!
How about mentoring five days a week, but after my working hours?
In Codecool your working hours are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Again, it is important to get to know your students and spend time daily with them.
How about weekend courses?
We do not provide weekend courses at the moment.
I really want to join Codecool team and be a mentor, but can’t commit to 40 hours weekly. What do I do?
Mentor role is a full-time position. However, if you are available for at least 20 hours weekly - let’s talk! 😉
I don’t have programming experience as such, but I can teach project management, agile methodologies and soft skills.
Although these skills are valuable to us, we really need mentors with a strong, commercial programming background right now. Ideally 2-3 years of experience.
Are you looking for any specific programming language?
We specialize predominantly in Java, C#, Javascript and Python. If you have experience if any of these, you are a great candidate for us!
I am concerned that while mentoring, I will not develop my programming skills.
Do not worry! While mentoring, you will still have contact with the code. You will be working on challenging exercises for our students or organize additional workshops, if you wish. You will also learn new things by explaining programming to others!
